The traditional IVF method could often lead to ovarian hyperstimulation. IVF Lite, uses minimal stimulation techniques for safer and successful results.
What is IVF Lite?
A revolutionary technique, brought to the fore by our Consultant Reproductive Endocrinology and IVF Dr. Gautam Allahbadia, IVF Lite uses a soft stimulation protocol with not as many fertility drugs as compared to traditional IVF, hence lowering the risk of ovarian hyper-stimulation, and multiple pregnancies. It also comes with less side effects. The cost is generally lower than traditional IVF, and is also a safer alternative.
How it Works?
A soft Stimulation protocol is used to stimulate the ovaries with lesser amount of fertility drugs. This helps in retrieving better quality eggs, which form better embryos. Only a few eggs are retrieved every cycle.
IVF Lite includes embryo accumulation and vitrification (ACCU-VIT) over a few cycles for poor responders and older women. it provides a very efficient and cost effective alternative to conventional IVF.
The Process
Step 1
Ovulation Induction – Soft Stimulation
Clomiphene Citrate tablets, a low dose of fertility injections (Gonadotropins) and GnRH Antagonist injections are used in the softer IVF Lite stimulation protocol.
Step 2
Follicular Monitoring
With the help of ultrasound, ovarian follicles are monitored for maturation.
Step 3
Egg Retrieval
After 34-36 hours of the HCG trigger, eggs are retrieved.
Step 4
Sperm Collection
If frozen sperm is not being used, the male partner will be requested for a semen sample.
Step 5
Fertilization
The egg and sperm are fertilized in the laboratory. Embryos formed are frozen on Day 2 or 3.
Step 6
Embryo Transfer
Depending on the patient’s convenience, a frozen embryo transfer is planned in a remote cycle.
IVF Lite is ideal for women
who are Poor Responders
are above the age of 40
who have Failed IVF before
