‘Family Balancing’ - Strike the right equilibrium in your family
What does Family Balancing mean?
Many parents greatly desire to add a son or a daughter to their households in order to have a gender-balanced family. With ‘Family Balancing’ program they get an opportunity for genetic testing of the embryo during the IVF process. They can then determine and convey about their preferred choice of gender for their child.
At MMC IVF, we provide family balancing services to couples who already have at least one child. They can opt for this method and decide whether to have a male or a female child to complete their family.
Moreover, couples who are looking for at least one kid have the ability to adopt a variety of strategies through family balancing.
Couples trying to conceive for the first time can also consult our family balancing experts to explore their options to have a small yet happy and balanced family.
What is the process to achieve Family Balancing?
First, for obtaining multiple healthy embryos, the female partner goes through an IVF cycle (in vitro fertilization) using the male partner’s sperm.
The resulting embryos are examined to see if they have normal chromosomes. This information also establishes the gender of each embryo. This technology used is known as Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and is a widely used technique for identifying an embryo's genetic information, including gender. Not to forget, PGD is carried out in conjunction with IVF.
More about PGD - IVF Family Balancing Genetic Testing
PGD test is carried out on embryos in a lab post 5 to 6 days of egg retrieval.
Each developing embryo has a small portion of its tissue taken for examination. PGD provides details about each embryo that is examined. The PGD chromosomal information reveals if the embryo is male or female as well as whether it has any chromosomal abnormalities that frequently cause miscarriage.
Our test has data on each of the 24 chromosomes with a 98 percent accuracy rate.
Why should you opt for this Gender Selection or Family Balancing program?
Gender selection is often used by couples to help prevent significant chromosomal problems and genetic diseases that are particular to one gender.
For instance, sex-related illnesses that are passed down from the mother, such as haemophilia and muscular dystrophy, solely affect male kids.
Additionally, one gender frequently exhibits symptoms of disorders like Fragile X or autism more severely than the other.
